We are so disappointed and disgusted with the transphobic conversations happening in our community (and beyond) recently.

It’s not okay that queer and trans folks are being threatened in their work places and queer kids are afraid to go to school where bigots are protesting.

Trans lives matter.
Gender expression is valid.
Trans rights are human rights.

Last year we had the pleasure of creating a custom “Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion” graphic for Avon Maitland District School Board.

This graphic is being made into vinyl decals and will go in the front entrances of all AMDSB schools and school board buildings.

When AMDSB reached out to us to help them we were beyond thrilled to say absolutely yes!

With love and so much gratitude...

What started as one woman trying to offer passersby a safe space after more devastating news, has evolved beyond its original purpose into a movement coast to coast. We didn’t expect it to go beyond the borders of our city but viral posts on social media have a life of their own.

As members of multiple communities that those hearts represent, we have really enjoyed all the pictures and messages that people have sent with it proudly displayed in their yards and windows.

We’d be lying if we said every response was positive. The sign was created for a small group in our community, with the intention of fostering safety & conversations. We are proud of our participation but we do recognize that intentions do not always translate outside the intended audience and understand our responsibility in it. Due to this, we have decided to end it on this positive note and it’s time for our newly minted studio to move on.

“Putting a sign up is a small, visible step. But there is so much more to do to end systemic oppression and hate. Speak up, donate, support people on the front lines of making real change happen.” - Nandhini
